Participating in mock trial competitions is a great way to learn how to apply specific laws, gain hands-on simulated trial experience, and develop skills such as critical thinking and public speaking. In mock trial competitions, students act as attorneys in a simulated trial. Teams will compete in at least two rounds where they take turns arguing for both the plaintiff and defense. The judges for the competition are volunteer attorneys.
The Mock Trial occurs once each semester.

Pre-Requisites for Mock Trial Participation
Each competitor must have at least a 2.0 GPA and meet at least one of the following:
- Participate in three hours of trial advocacy training that will be provided by Seattle University faculty;
or
- Have taken or are currently in Comprehensive Pre-trial Advocacy or Comprehensive Trial Advocacy;
or
- Have already participated in a mock trial competition in law school.
Note: Even if a competitor meets the 2nd or 3rd criteria, he or she is still strongly encouraged to attend the three hours of trial advocacy training.
