Alternative Dispute Resolution Board

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Board ("ADR Board") is an academic organization whose purpose is to increase awareness of alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”) and to facilitate the development of ADR skills within the law school community. The ADR Board works to expand opportunities for students to develop important dispute resolution skills by connecting law students with ADR practitioners, supporting ADR training opportunities, and hosting ADR guest speakers and networking events.

Classes

Like everything else in life, having the right training is an important tool to anyone's career. Seattle University School of Law offers a variety of courses focusing on and relevant to Alternative Dispute Resolution. In an effort to help law students who are interested in a career in Alternative Dispute Resolution we have compiled a list of classes currently offered at SU.

• Advanced Legal Research (2 credits)
• Advanced Writing Seminar (2 credits)
• Contract Drafting (2 credits)
• Drafting Labs (1 credit)
• Legal Writing I: Research, Analysis, Writing (4 credits) (Full year)
• Legal Writing II: Written & Oral Advocacy (3 credits) (Fall or Spring)
• Mediation Clinic (3 credits) (Fall) (Pre-requisite: ALDR 302, a 40 hour basic mediation training, or permission of instructor)
• Mediation Skills (3 credits) (Spring)
• Negotiations (3 credits) (Fall or Spring)
• Regional Dispute Resolution Competition Seminar (1 Credit) (Fall or Spring) (Pre-requisite: must be a winner of a an in-house competition)
