Policies

  • You may add yourself to a waitlist when courses are full provided certain prerequisites are met.
  • Waitlisted classes do not count toward your total credit load.
  • You can register for an alternate section of the same course or register for a course at the same time as your waitlisted course without affecting your chances of being offered a seat in the waitlisted course.

Check your position

  • Go to mySeattleU and choose the 'Manage My Waitlist' from the student menu.
  • The status will display as “Pending".
  • We will contact you via email if/when a seat becomes available.

Enroll in a waitlisted course

  • You must reply by the deadline stated in the email to secure a seat.
  • Drop any alternate sections of the same course and any conflicting courses before you will be registered for the waitlisted course.
  • We drop students from waitlists who fail to reply and offer the seat to the next student in line.

Waitlist sign in

  • You must sign into the waitlists each day during the first week of classes by:

Class attendance for waitlisted students

  • You may attend the first session of a waitlisted course at the professor’s discretion and if physical seats are available.
  • This is not required and attendance gives you no advantage in moving off the waitlist.*

* A few clinics and simulation classes are an exception. For these courses, waitlisted students must attend the first class to be eligible to enroll. If this is the case for one of your waitlisted courses, you will receive an email from the professor or the Office of the Registrar at least one week before classes begin.

First day attendance for students registered in waitlisted courses

  • All registered students must attend the first class session of a waitlisted course unless the professor approves your absence.
  • Unexcused absences will cause you to be dropped from the course, and your spot will go to a waitlisted student.

Tips

  • Add yourself to waitlists! We won’t know that you want a course if you are not on its waitlist.
  • Check your email! If you don’t reply to a waitlist email by the deadline you will be dropped from the waitlist. If you won’t have computer access, email lawreg@seattleu.edu to let us know.
  • Sign in during week one. It is common for space to open up in waitlisted courses during the first week. If you don’t sign in, you won’t be eligible to move into the class.
  • Drop off the waitlist if you’re no longer interested. It will save you unwanted emails and allow us to more quickly assign empty seats.
  • Respect the waitlist order. Do not ask a professor to move you ahead of others.
