Official transcripts

  • Printed on red and white scrip-safe paper and bear the facsimile signature of the School of Law Registrar.
  • Sealed in special transcript envelopes; if the envelope is opened the transcript becomes unofficial.
  • We do not currently offer official electronic transcripts.
  • Cost:
    • Current students: Free of charge (exception: transcripts for transfer applications, see Transfer Packet Request for details).
    • Alumni and former students: $5 for each official transcript.
    • We only accept cash, check, or money orders; no credit cards are accepted.
    • If submitting your request electronically, mail your payment separately to the address above.

Keep in mind:

  • Some employers and all higher education institutions require official transcripts.
  • Many institutions will accept official transcripts directly from students as long as the seal of the official transcript envelope has not been broken.
  • Some institutions, including the Law School Admissions Council, will only accept official transcripts mailed directly from the School of Law.

Unofficial transcripts

  • Can be sent on paper or by email as pdf documents.
  • Have white background bearing Seattle U Law’s logo and a watermark that notes the transcript is unofficial.
  • Cost: Free of charge

Keep in mind: Many employers accept unofficial transcripts, but higher education institutions generally do not.

We offer three options to submit your request:

By email

Email your request, which must be sent from your Seattle U email account, with the following information

  • Your name
  • Your student ID
  • Whether you need an official or unofficial transcript
  • Where the transcripts should be sent (unofficial transcripts can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or picked up. Official transcripts must be mailed or picked up).

By submitting a form

Complete a Document Request Form (PDF), which must bear your hand-written signature, and send to:

Seattle University School of Law
Office of the Registrar
901 12th Avenue - Sullivan Hall
Seattle, WA 98122-1090
Fax: 206-398-4058
Email: lawreg@seattleu.edu

Document Request Forms may be faxed or scanned and emailed instead of mailed.

By letter

Submit a brief letter bearing your hand-written signature with the following information:

  • Your student ID (if known)
  • Your year of graduation
  • Whether you need an official or unofficial transcript
  • Where the transcripts should be sent (unofficial transcripts can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or picked up. Official transcripts must be mailed or picked up).

Transfers

  • Complete a Transfer Packet Request (PDF) if you are applying for transfer to another law school.
  • Cost: $10 for each packet (one required per school)

Transcripts from other schools or other Seattle U programs

  • We cannot provide official or unofficial copies of other schools’ transcripts that you have submitted. Request those transcripts directly from the school.
  • For non-law school coursework completed at Seattle University, request your undergraduate or graduate transcripts from the Seattle University Office of the Registrar.

Account restrictions

  • If you have outstanding debt, we may place a hold on your transcript to prevent its release.
