Yesterday was the beginning of my Rule 9 with [Seattle's] Office of the Public Defender in the parents rep program. One of our first clients was a DV survivor who has been through horrific things. I had to explain to my supervising attorney the lethality factors and the importance of recognizing them in DV cases. He had never heard of them, and asked for me to send him all the information I could find. We helped draft a DVPO for her and got her to a safe place. Just wanted to share that your instruction is so important in a very real and meaningful way!
