Once your file is complete (all documents received):
If awarded work study funds, the award and amount will be on the Offer Letter. Entering students may be eligible for Federal Work Study (on campus). Continuing students entering their second or third year who are Washington State residents and are eligible based on need may qualify for State Work Study (off campus). Funds are received as you earn them - you do not receive the funds upfront. Do not presume if you receive Federal Work Study your first year you will receive State Work Study the following year - there are different criteria. Continuing students may request Federal Work Study, if eligible, by reducing other aid.
The Law School Student Financial Services Office will continue to be your contact for financial aid during your program. If you do plan on enrolling in the Joint Degree Program, you will need to inform our office as soon as possible. Refunds for living expenses will be processed by the Law School Business Office even during the year of all graduate courses.
Yes. Your financial aid for the summer study abroad program will be based on your financial aid eligibility for the academic year. The Stafford loan will be disbursed equally over three terms: summer, fall and spring. If the study abroad program costs exceed the Stafford disbursement amount, you may apply for an alternative loan and request a summer disbursement, if necessary and approved. You must complete a summer study abroad application. Funds will be disbursed directly to you and you are responsible for paying the host institution directly for tuition and fees.
You will need to notify Student Financial Services that you will be visiting away for the academic year and have approval from Associate Dean DiBiase. You must complete a study away financial aid application. Our office will request a consortium agreement with the host school. A consortium agreement is required in order for you to receive any financial aid for the program. Funds will be disbursed to you and you are responsible for paying the host institution directly for tuition and fees. The host school will then process any extra as a refund check for your living expenses for the term.
If an employer will be paying for all or part of tuition, you will need to contact both the Student Financial Services Office and the Business Office. Employer contribution is considered part of student aid and is added to your financial aid award. The Business Office will be the contact for the employer to send the payment and for any billing statements requested by the employer.
Tuition charges for the term are listed on mySeattleU.
For the cost of tuition for the School of Law, see our Tuition and Fees page. Tuition charges are set by the Board of Trustees every year around the first part of March. You should expect an annual tuition increase.
Please see Payments for tuition due dates and payment plans.
Financial aid pays all institutional charges first. Refund checks, if applicable, typically are available to pick up at the Business Office at the end of the first week of classes, provided all documentation and steps required for financial aid are complete. The law school offers direct deposit with approximately the same time frame of availability. However, you should always be prepared to cover your living expenses for the first two weeks of every term.
