What led you to pursue a law degree and why did you choose Seattle U?
Growing up, I faced an immense amount of adversity in my community. I came to law school with a strong commitment to represent underserved individuals, empower those who feel disenfranchised, and advocate for justice. I specifically chose Seattle U Law because of the Legal Writing Program. As an advocate, I understood how crucial it was to also have the tools necessary to become a highly effective legal writer. I am confident Seattle U is going to prepare me to master critical research and writing skills.
What have you found especially valuable during your legal education?
I have found especially valuable the Center for Professional Development (CPD) at Seattle U Law. Preparing cover letters and resumes for employment opportunities takes a lot of time and can get extremely overwhelming without any guidance. CPD’s resources have immensely alleviated my stress by providing me with the tools necessary to successfully secure job opportunities.
What advice would you offer a prospective law student?
If I could offer a piece of advice to a prospective law student, it would be to remember to prioritize your mental health while in law school. It can become extremely difficult to navigate law school when you forget to take time for yourself. Find a healthy balance that works for you! Don’t worry about others.
