What led you to pursue a law degree?

In the past couple of years, xenophobia in the U.S. reached a new peak. The racial hatred and vilification of minority groups has become a threatening weapon utilized by the “idealized” majority. Being an attorney equips me with a legal megaphone, one that I can use to lend a voice to those that are unjustly imprisoned, detained, questioned, and deported due to an increasingly aggressive anti-immigrant political agenda. But more importantly, becoming an attorney gives me the ability to intervene legally in circumstances of political abuse from the many against the few.

Why did you choose Seattle U?

I confidently chose Seattle U because I knew that the university provides an environment that welcomes diversity. As such, this is a place where I look to grow and develop — a place where belonging is inherently tied to being different.

What have you found most valuable during your law school education?

I have found that study groups have allowed me to plan out how to study well for midterm and final exams. Further, networking events are intentionally designed to allow student to meet new people in the legal environment.

What activities are you involved in at the law school or in the community?

Former Communications Director of the Student Bar Association
Moot Court Board

What do you do outside of law school? What do you love about Seattle?

Outside of school, you can find me going on walks around Seattle. I typically love going on walks around Pike Place Market and the Capitol Hill neighborhood. I also enjoy finding new coffee shops around Seattle and other locations nearby such as Bellevue and Mercer Island.

What advice would you offer a prospective law student?

Be a part of social circles that will welcome you and accept you for who you are. Law school can appear to be a complex puzzle, but it is not one that you have to solve by yourself. There are so many resources you can take advantage of to help you succeed.
