14th Annual Promoting Diversity in Law School Leadership Workshop

Friday, 26 September 2025 to Saturday, 27 September 2025 at 08:00 to 23:59

In partnership with Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, we are pleased to host the 14th Annual Promoting Diversity in Law School Leadership Workshop, at Seattle University School of Law, on Sept. 26 and 27, 2025.

This program is open to all and is designed to encourage and support diversity - in the broadest sense - in law school leadership positions, especially deanships. We invite as participants individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and worldviews, within the legal academy/profession, who have an interest in becoming law deans, either now or in the future.

Approximately two dozen current and past deans will speak on topics such as:

  • Deciding to Become a Law School Dean
  • Succeeding in the Selection Process
  • Accepting the Job and Key First Steps
  • Navigating the Intersectionalities of Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation and other Differences as Dean
  • 360-degree Management – Exploring the Decanal Interface with Different Constituencies and Stakeholders at State, Private, Religious, and Independent Law Schools
  • Confronting the Current Challenges to Higher and Legal Education
  • Deaning Through Crisis
  • Engaging Key Constituents
  • Institutional Priorities, Budgeting & Financial Management for Deans
  • Leadership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Fundraising

Sitting and recently sitting deans will also be available to provide one-on-one mentoring and advice to participants. Some of these sitting and recently sitting deans were past Workshop participants who have gone on to become deans and credit the Workshop for providing them with invaluable advice, guidance, and mentoring. Please join us! Again, ALL ARE WELCOME.

Very special thanks to LSAC and SALT for serving once again as generous workshop sponsors.
