MLS Sports Law

The Master of Legal Studies (MLS) in Sports Law is for students who seek an education focused on the legal issues surrounding the sports industry. Students may work in league governance, intellectual property, sponsorships, event production, venue management, contract management, employment and labor negotiations, and other areas of sports business.

Overview

The residential program is 30 credits and may be attended full or part-time.

• Fall or spring semester start
• Full time (9-12 months) or part time (18-24 months)

Curriculum

Required courses

All MLS students in this program will be required to take:

• Introduction to the American Legal System
• Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing

Core courses

Students in the MLS Sports Law program are required to take a minimum of four (4) core course, unless waived.

• Professional Sports Law

Elective courses

Students in the MLS Sports Law program may take electives to complete the required 30 credits, including the following, in consultation with the Program Director.
