As part of the law school’s commitment to the academic and professional success of each student, we provide effective in-house bar preparation to help students pass the Uniform Bar Exam.

Our program consists of two major components:

  • Bar Exam Strategies and Skills course, open to 3L and LL.M. Students. Learn more
  • Supplemental Bar Program, open to Seattle U Law graduates and LL.M. students. Learn more

Bar Exam Strategies and Skills

3 credits
Open to 3L and LL.M. students
Offered every semester

The cornerstone of our Bar Success Program, this course focuses on building the analytical, writing, and organizational skills necessary to enhance the ability of students to prepare for the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE).

Key learning objectives:

  • Understand the format and components of the bar exam
  • Review substantive areas of law covered on the UBE
  • Receive intensive hands-on studying and writing practice, peer evaluation, and individual written feedback.
  • Learn strategy to successfully complete both portions of the bar exam, with a focus on taking and reviewing one Multistate Performance Test (MPT).
  • Review memorization and outlining skills, time management strategies, and stress management techniques.

Additional information:

  • Unlike typical law school classes, students receive frequent feedback and grading throughout the semester.
  • Class requires homework, in-class assignments, a midterm, and a final exam, among other types of graded exercises.
  • Not a substitute for a comprehensive commercial bar review course; this class provides exposure to materials and strategies emphasized in such a course.
