Involvement

I have had the honor to serve as the Student Bar Association president, Seattle University Post-Conviction Appellate Alliance president, and lead article research & technical editor for Seattle University Law Review. I was also a competitor for the James E. Bond ABA Moot Court Competition and a finalist for the regional ABA Law Student Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition.

Passion

I am very passionate about a career in juvenile rights and public defense work through impact litigation, direct service, and client representation. Prior to law school, I attended Louisiana State University and studied religion and criminology. After graduation, I worked in national public service with AmeriCorps and in three juvenile facilities in Washington state through a nonprofit that focused heavily on understanding a youth’s background, what stories they had to tell of their lived experience, and how the impacts of policing and incarceration changed their childhoods. This work changed my life and confirmed for me that working in juvenile rights and public defense was my passion.

During law school, I have worked at a variety of organizations that are doing the necessary work to address the inequity in the legal system. I sought out opportunities to work with young people to address ongoing children’s rights issues at Juvenile Law Center, ACLU-WA, and Legal Counsel for Youth & Children. Fundamentally, my passion for juvenile rights and public defense work stems from one of my most closely held personal goals: to live in a world where we do not incarcerate our young people.
