The India Center for Law and Justice hosts visiting scholars from law schools in India who wish to spend a short time at Seattle University School of Law researching and/or interacting with our faculty.

Professor Shireen Moti

Shireen Moti

Professor Shireen Moti was our summer 2020 visiting scholar. Professor Moti is an alumna of the first batch of the 5-year integrated law degree program of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). In 2016, she was awarded the British FCO Chevening Scholarship to pursue her Master in Law (LLM) degree from Queen Mary University of London, UK. She was also awarded the Jagdish Bhagwati Fellowship and the Human Rights fellowship to pursue her LLM from Columbia Law School (awarded, not availed).  She is the first graduate of JGU to be awarded the Chevening Scholarship, the Human Rights Fellowship, and the Jagdish Bhagwati Fellowship in the same year.  In 2017, her first book, Guide to LLM Admissions and Scholarships Abroad, was published by Universal Law Publications and LexisNexis, and it is the first book published by an Indian author on the said topic.

In 2018, she joined Nishith Desai Associates (NDA) as an associate member of its Regulatory team in Delhi. At NDA, she had the opportunity to work with marquee clients on regulatory and legal issues. In 2019, she joined JGLS as a Research Associate, and with this she transitioned into legal academia. Currently, she is working as an Assistant Professor of Law and Director, Office of Alumni Relations at JGU. She teaches courses on Constitutional Law and Labour Law. She is also working on a fully funded international research project with renowned legal academics in India and the UK on the issue of domestic violence. Her research interests are access to justice, clinical legal education, dignity and human rights, domestic violence and others.
