Biography

Susan Kelley Koeppen is a Senior Director in the Legal Department at Expedia, Inc. in Bellevue, WA, a global online travel site. She practices a mix of consumer, business, and regulatory law, managing legal support for six consumer brands in the Americas and Australia and New Zealand. Before joining Expedia, she held in-house positions at T-Mobile USA and Microsoft Corporation, specializing in privacy and information security law. In 2010, she served as Director, Cyber Policy, in the National Security Division of the Department of Justice, where she participated in the development of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, including review of legal issues related to cybersecurity monitoring programs, and formulation of legislation related to electronic communications privacy and cybersecurity. She was previously a Trial Attorney in the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the Department of Justice, and a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia. Prior to attending law school, she was a computer programmer at the Department of Defense and IBM Corporation. She is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity and privacy law matters at regional and national conferences, including RSA, ISS World, and PLI.

She is a graduate of Smith College and Georgetown University Law Center cum laude. She is admitted to practice in the states of Maine and Washington, and the District of Columbia, and was admitted to the Supreme Court Bar in June 2015.
