Paul Swegle has served as general counsel to a dozen companies across several industries, including fintech, financial services, health and medical devices, health and medical data management, e-commerce and natural resources, guiding them across most areas of law and regulation, including formation, governance, fundraising, intellectual property protection, employment law, commercial agreements, risk management and dispute resolution.
Paul is also Of Counsel to Kinsel Law Offices in Seattle, where he handles projects for clients across all areas of business law, including finance, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation. Paul previously served in both the United States Securities and Exchange Commission's Enforcement Division and Division of Corporation Finance, and he also served two appointments as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
He speaks frequently around the country on a range of law and business topics and is the author of a best-selling book, "Contract Drafting and Negotiation for Entrepreneurs and Business Professionals." His second book, "Startup Law and Fundraising for Entrepreneurs and Startup Advisors" is expected to be out in early 2019. Paul received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington, magna cum laude, and his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. Paul is a member of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Board of Governors, he is the Immediate Past Chair of the WSBA Corporate Counsel Section and he also serves on the WSBA Securities Law Committee.
