Biography

Alexandra (Alex) Narvaez is a visiting professor for the Child Representation Clinic which launches Spring 2026. Alex has been a dependency (child rep) attorney for the over 12 years. She has represented youth and children while working at Legal Counsel for Youth and Children (LCYC) since 2014. During her time at LCYC, she has practiced in all LCYC programs, including dependency, youth defense (juvenile), Becca (Child in Need of Services, At Risk Youth, and Truancy), and civil legal aid matters. She currently serves as the Supervisor for the LCYC Yakima Dependency Program, Youth Defense Program, and Youth Access to Counsel Program. LCYC is modelled to provide holistic representation in their cases. Prior to working at LCYC, she was a public defender with what is now King County Department of Public Defense, The Defender Association Division. As a public defender, she represented both children and adults in dependency and criminal matters, as well as civil commitment and Becca matters.

In 2024, she served as an Ambassador for Racial Justice, a program through The Gault Center and Georgetown Law. She is also certified trainer of their Youth Defense Advocacy Program.

She graduated with honors from Seattle University School of Law and received her BA in political science from the University of Washington.
