A partner with the Seattle office of Miller Nash, LLP, Professor Cumbow focuses on trademark, copyright, publishing, legal issues for technology, advertising, arts and entertainment. He has been chair of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Washington State Bar Association, a Board Member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Washington State Bar Association, and a Board member and past president of Washington Lawyers for the Arts. He has written widely on law, language, art, film, and lifestyle topics, and has taught at Seattle University, the University of Washington, and Seattle Central College. He was the inaugural recipient of SU Law School's now longstanding annual Outstanding Adjunct Professor award; and in 2026 received the Washington State Bar Association's Apex Award for Lifetime Achievement and was recently named SU Law School's TILE Alumnus of the Year.
