Biography

Dan Bentson is a seasoned litigator, trial attorney, and mediator. He has extensive experience representing individuals and corporate and government clients in complex commercial disputes. Dan has successfully tried multi-million-dollar insurance and bad faith cases and has argued appeals significant to the insurance industry at the Washington and Oregon Supreme Courts. He is a sought-after mediator who has served as a neutral in over 200 insurance and construction disputes. For several years, Dan has been recognized annually as a Washington Super Lawyer. He is also listed in Best Lawyers of America.

Dan is an Adjunct Professor at Seattle University School of Law where he teaches Insurance Law. In the past, he served as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's Property Insurance Law Committee for the Trial Tort & Insurance Practice Section. Dan has authored several articles and book chapters on a variety of legal topics, including alternative dispute resolution, the attorney-client privilege, professional liability, and business interruption coverage. He frequently presents on insurance law topics at conferences and continuing-legal education events.

Before he entered private practice, Dan clerked for Justice James Johnson of the Washington Supreme Court. He also served on active duty in the United States Army JAG Corps. Dan is a recipient of the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, and Army Commendation Medals.
