Biography

Katie A. Axtell is an Adjunct Professor in the Legal Writing Department, bringing over 20 years of private practice experience representing both commercial and individual clients. She is a graduate of Seattle University School of Law where she was a Note and Comment Editor of the Seattle University Law Review. Following graduation, Katie began her legal career as a law clerk for Justice Charles W. Johnson of the Washington State Supreme Court and also worked for Justice Barbara A. Madsen. For the next 10 years, Katie practiced in the area of creditors' rights, title insurance litigation and bankruptcy. During that time, she litigated cases on behalf of commercial clients in state and federal court in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, including state courts of appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2015, Katie transitioned to advising individual clients on estate planning and probate matters. She enjoyed forging closer, long-term relationships with clients as they navigated difficult circumstances and subject matters.
