Justice Charles Z. Smith Law Student Awards
The award honors Justice Charles Z. Smith, the first Black American and person of color to serve on the Washington State Supreme Court.
Each year, the three law schools of Washington, together with the Washington State Minority and Justice Commission, award a student from each school for demonstrated leadership for justice, equality, and public service.
Keynote speaker Archie Roundtree, Jr. is an equity attorney at Justice in Aging in Southern California, engaged in community enrichment, civil legal services, and diversity, equity, inclusion matters. Mr. Roundtree is a 2018 recipient of the CZ Smith award and a 2018 graduate of Seattle U School of Law.
This year’s virtual event is hosted by Seattle University in connection with Black History Month.
