Externship Description

The PDC is the state agency that oversees the state’s campaign finance, lobbying and related laws. The PDC is located in Olympia, Washington. More information about the PDC is available at the website at www.pdc.wa.gov. The law clerk will report to the General Counsel, or the Executive Director (who is also an attorney), depending upon the project. Law clerk duties include assisting the General Counsel and/or Executive Director in litigation as needed, conducting research, writing legal memoranda, and performing other legal work as assigned. Other assignments may include observing administrative and/or court hearings, attending Commission meetings, etc. Strong writing and communication skills are required. An interest or background in political science or First Amendment law is a plus. This position is open to students who have completed their first or second years of law school. This is up to a three-month position in Olympia; start/end dates and hours are negotiable.
