Externship Description
Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) is a federally qualified health center that provides primary medical, dental, behavioral health counseling, substance use treatment, and pharmacy services to all patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
Legal Interns will experience what it is like to work in-house at a nonprofit healthcare organization. Interns should be committed to advancing health equity in a trauma-informed care environment. A background in Health Law is not required.
Examples of Assignments:
- Draft research memos on a variety of substantive legal issues (employment law, healthcare regulatory compliance, business law, etc.)
- Research emerging health policy issues and proposed rule-making
- Review, analyze, and update company policies and procedures
- Develop tools and templates for PCHS’ medical legal partnership program
Externs are expected to work on-site at PCHS’ Administration Building (400 Warren Ave., Bremerton, WA 98337). The Administration building a 7-minute walk from the Bremerton Ferry Terminal. Students can reach the site by ferry and can use their ORCA cards, which work on both the 55 minute ferry operated by WSDOT, as well as the 30 minute passenger ferry operated by Kitsap Transit.
