Message from the Director

The law school's 35th anniversary gala celebration on April 25 was truly a night to remember.  More than 1,000 alumni, friends, faculty, students and staff filled Benaroya Hall. I thoroughly enjoyed connecting with many of you, your families and your colleagues.

You can read about the new chair and professorships awarded and see a slideshow of photos. Watch for complete coverage in the summer issue of the Lawyer.

We are so proud to welcome more than 300 new graduates to the alumni community. As you meet our recent graduates at upcoming events, in the firms and agencies where you work, it is my hope that you will reach out and mentor our newest members.

The alumni office is excited about the programs we will launch in the upcoming academic year.  I hope those of you in the Anchorage area will attend our events in June. Please continue to look out for the Amicus Brief for information on programs and services just for you, our valued alumni.

With warmest regards,
Grace A. Greenwich

Craig welcomed graduates to the alumni community at commencement, and had the chance to hood his second son during the ceremony. The three of them sat down for an interview filled with laughter as they shared what inspired them toward the legal profession.

College Cost Reduction and Access Act
The alumni office continues to get questions about the College Cost Reduction and Access Act, so we want to tell you more about this good news for those in nonprofit or government careers. The act puts an annual limit on loan payments for borrowers with high educational debt compared to income level and helps borrowers who are employed in public service make affordable monthly payments over a period of 10 years. After 10 years of payments, the federal government will forgive the eligible federal educational debt that remains.
