Indigenous Peoples' Day

4:30 p.m.  -  5:30 p.m.

The Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) will be hosting, with support from the American Indian Law Journal, the Center for Indian Law and Policy, and the Access to Justice Institute, a celebratory dinner and keynote address by Senator John McCoy, member of the Tulalip Tribes and Washington State congressman, to commemorate Seattle University’s adoption of Indigenous Peoples’ Day to replace Columbus Day. Senator McCoy will discuss his authorship of SB 1495, the "Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty in Washington State" curriculum, and its companion bill, SB 5433, making it mandatory curriculum for our public schools here in Washington! This is the 2nd annual celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day here at Seattle University so come out and show your support! The event will be held on the 2nd level of the law school from 4:30 to 5:30 on October 9th. Please RSVP to NALSA@seattleu.edu by October 3rd.
