Amanda Stephen is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Lawyering Skills for the 2019-20 school year. Professor Stephen is both a licensed attorney and Certified Professional Accountant (CPA). She has completed several clerkships at Division I of the Washington State Court of Appeals, most recently serving as the Senior Clerk for the Honorable Lori K. Smith. Professor Stephen previously clerked for the Honorable James R. Verellen and the Honorable Ronald E. Cox (retired) and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable John C. Coughenour and David H. Armstrong (retired). She has taught legal research workshops in the past and teaches accounting classes in the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) Program at City University of Seattle.

Professor Stephen maintains a solo practice focused on appellate law and freelance legal research and writing services. She received her J.D., MPAcc, and B.A. in Accounting from the University of Washington. Prior to attending law school, Professor Stephen spent three years working as a CPA at Ernst & Young LLP in Seattle, auditing the financial statements of several notable public companies in the region.

Professor Stephen enjoys giving back to her community. She volunteers with the King County Neighborhood Legal Clinic in Lake City, participates in the Washington State Bar Association's Call to Duty Initiative serving local veterans, and previously served on the Washington State Bar Association's Amicus Curiae Brief Committee. She also sits on the Board of Directors for the Lake Limerick Homeowners' Association in Shelton, Washington, and volunteers in her church. In her precious down time, you can find her spending quality time with her husband, two young daughters, and standard poodle puppy.
