Laura Baird is an Assistant City Attorney in the civil division of the Seattle City Attorney's Office. Previously, Laura worked as a public defender in Everett's mental health court, and then as an Assistant Attorney General representing the Department of Children, Youth, and Families in child welfare litigation. In addition, Laura served as legislative fellow for the Office of the Attorney General in 2017, where she advocated for increased protections for student loan borrowers. Laura also volunteers on the executive board of the non-partisan National Women's Political Caucus of Washington, as a member of the Washington State Bar Association Juvenile Law Section, and is very active in local politics. While in law school, Laura was on the executive board of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice, the Student Bar Association, and worked as a teaching assistant for Professor Brooke Coleman.
