Biography

In his 35 + years as a lawyer, David Howard has been privileged to see the profession from a variety of different perspectives - the court system, the executive branch, a private law firm, and, finally, a major corporation.

Following his clerkship for the Honorable Marvin Katz, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Howard worked briefly for a law firm before joining the White House Counsel's Office as a member of a team of lawyers responding to various investigations of the President during the Iran/Contra scandal. Howard then served seven years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where he concentrated on major fraud and political corruption cases. After leaving the US Attorney's Office, Howard became a partner at Dechert LLP, where he was co-chair of the White Collar and Securities Litigation Group. In 2010, Howard became Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Microsoft, leading the litigation, competition law and corporate compliance groups.

Howard graduated from Princeton University (1981) and the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1984).
