Communicating persuasively is critical in the courtroom (and also throughout your practice). Persuasive Power & Presence in the Courtroom will give you insight and tools to be at your best as a communicator.

Overview

This course will cover the basics of effective communication skills in the courtroom. It is designed to help develop confidence and a dynamic presence that successfully engages listeners. The "non-verbal" skills taught include vocal presence-resonance, articulation, vocal variety, and physical presence including gesture, movement, eye contact. Participants are encouraged to bring a short (one minute) speech or talk as one-on-one coaching will be offered as time permits.

Kimberly White empowers attorneys through dynamic and cutting edge techniques that are critical for a "superb presence". Ms. White is one of only 200 world-wide teachers trained and certified by Master Teacher Kristin Linklater in her premiere voice method, Freeing the Natural Voice. Ms. White recently was faculty on the Seattle Public Defenders Training Academy. In March she co-presented with Joshua Karton at the Women's Advocacy Project in San Francisco.

This program is available for in-person participation only.

Turning Distractions into Opportunities

Life doesn't go as we planned it-at least most of the time. In the courtroom is no exception! You've written it brilliantly, you're ready to deliver and....the judge looks disapproving and forbids key evidence, the story is broken up by sidebars, a juror nods off...how do you stay on your game in the face of adversity? This session will give you some fresh tools and tips on turning those distractions into opportunities.
