The Conference will offer three distinct tracks with panels tailored for attorneys new to Immigration Law; attorneys practicing primarily Family based immigration and those practicing in the area of Business/Investor based immigration.

Michelle Salter, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP
Michelle Salter is an associate at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where she focuses her practice on immigration matters. She has experience creating, managing, and implementing U.S. immigration processes and procedures for comprehensive global programs. Michelle has developed and managed internal organization compliance programs, including business travel policy, recruitment, and I-9 and document verification matters. She works frequently with health care clients in preparing J-1 waivers and physician national interest waivers for service in underserved areas. Michelle also represents investors in EB-5 matters.
Robert Gibbs, Gibbs Houston Pauw
Robert H. Gibbs is a founding partner of Gibbs Houston Pauw. He has practiced immigration law since 1977, handling a wide variety of employment, family, citizenship, asylum and deportation cases. His practice includes federal court litigation to remedy agency decisions or inactions, as well as class actions to obtain relief for thousands of individuals. He has represented entities in a broad range of industries including software, health care, restaurants, manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, forest products, international trade, professional services, construction, sports and the arts.
Mr. Gibbs has a top rating (AV) from the leading national lawyers' directory, Martindale-Hubbell. Chambers USA and Who's Who Legal 2012 give him the ranking as a leading lawyer in business immigration. He is annually ranked a Washington State "Super Lawyer" in immigration practice by Law & Politics Magazine. Mr. Gibbs is a frequent lecturer at seminars for attorneys and employers on immigration law and workplace compliance, federal court litigation, and naturalization.
Joel Paget, Ryan Swanson and Cleveland PLLC
Joel H. Paget is the Senior Member of the Immigration Group at Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC in Seattle, WA, for which he also has served as Managing Partner. He has over 35 years of immigration experience with an emphasis on business immigration and tax issues. Joel is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") and has served for nine years on the national AILA Department of State Liaison Committee and is currently a member of the local AILA Chapter's Consular Affairs Liaison Committee, the USCBP Liaison Committee and the Congressional Liaison Committee all of which he has served as the Chair. He also is a member of the Seattle Rotary #4, and is an Emeritus Trustee of Seattle Pacific University. He was an adjunct professor of business law for 10 years at SPU, and chairman of the Taxation Section and a Bar Examiner for the Washington State Bar Association. He continues to be recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America (1991-2019).
