For SU Law Students and Graduates
If you are conducting a summer or permanent job search outside of western Washington, the Center for Professional Development may be able to arrange for you to use the career services office of a law school in a different region. A request for reciprocity must come from the CPD.
Students and alumni must identify the schools and must also review each school's reciprocity policy before asking CPD to make a request on their behalf. For example, some schools require that you are living in the state, or require that you come in person to gain access to their job resources.
Please send a list of all the schools from which you are requesting reciprocity to Junsen Ohno. Requests by both current students and alumni are limited to 5 requests per person per year. Some institutions limit reciprocity requests to one student at a time and requests are made on a first come, first serve basis.
For Students and Graduates of Other Law Schools
The Seattle University School of Law reciprocity policy is as follows:
- Reciprocal career services are available to students and graduates of ABA-approved law schools that agree to provide similar services to the students and graduates of Seattle University Law School.
- We offer remote access to employment listings. We do not offer resume/cover letter review or participation in on-campus interviews. Counseling services are not available to students and alums of other law schools.
- Reciprocity will be granted for a three-month period, renewable at our discretion. Reciprocity services will not be available from March 1 to April 15 and August 1 to November 15 during the spring and fall recruiting period.
- Requests for reciprocity must be made by a career services office of the home law school and should include the name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address of the student/graduate. They should certify that the individual requesting reciprocity is either a student or graduate of that law school. Please e-mail these requests, and any further questions, to Junsen Ohno at email@example.com.
