Class Giving Campaign

The Class Gift at SU Law is a fundraising campaign led by students in their last year of law school, providing a great way for the class to make a real difference in the life of the school and build on a tradition of giving back to SU Law.

Class of 2009 Giving Campaign

Laura Cacek and Michelle Fontenot are leading the efforts for this year's December graduates. In the spring the committee was made up of: Danielle Cross, Stephanie Doherty, Kevin Hastings, Chiara Rowan McGowan, Ty Rogers and Kiersten Weinberger.

The Class of 2009 spring grads brought the participation rate to 52%, the highest percentage of class giving in the history of the law school and representing a tremendous effort on the part of all who gave and of the volunteer leadership of the campaign. The Class of 2009 December grads strive to surpass this achievement and set a new standard of engagement for students and alumni.

Join the Giving Committee and other members of the Class of 2009 in supporting SU Law today. Online, you may participate in one of two ways:

Remember, participation is the goal so a gift of any size is welcome and very much appreciated.

Each graduate has the opportunity to make their gift in honor or in memory of family, friends or a professor who had a profound impact on their law school experience. These names will be listed in the graduation program. Also, all members of the class who make a pledge by Friday, December 4 will be listed in the school's annual Report of Giving.

Laura Cacek and Michelle Fontenot of the December Class of 2009 Giving Committee had this to say about the importance of giving back to the School of Law:

"Graduation marks a public, as well as personal, milestone for us as we make the transition from students to stewards of the law school. As students, we've gratefully received the benefits of those who came before us and contributed to our success. As stewards of the school, we invite you now to help create those benefits and advantages for future students by becoming benefactors of Seattle University School of Law. We invite you to raise the participation level of our class to more than 58% by making your gift today!"

Why We Give

Gifts to the law school's Annual Fund for Excellence support core commitments, essentially everything that helps sustain, nurture and propel the law school and its model of legal education based on the twin pillars of academic excellence and education for justice.

Your Annual Fund gift can now be designated to one of the following areas:

  • General Fund
  • Scholarships
  • Faculty Support
  • Academic Programs
  • Student Programs

If you have any questions, please contact Ken Shook, Advancement Services Manager at shookk@seattleu.edu or visit the Annual Fund page.

"SU Law offered me the incredible opportunity to receive a legal education. The class gift seemed like a small way to give back to the University that had given me a lot. This school has really become part of my identity and will remain that way for the rest of my life."
